James Power

James Power of Halifax, achieved fame in the Ice Hockey world as a builder
of the game. He made a major contribution to the collection of hockey
history in his many writings during the years that the game was developing
into Canada’s national winter sport. His career as a sports journalist
began in the 1870s, so that he knew about Ice Hockey before the game reached
Montreal from Nova Scotia. His scrapbooks of sport history are to be found
in the Public Archives of Nova Scotia (PANS) as the Power Collection (PC)
